Is the superhero really based on me?
Yes. The AI works from the photo you upload and keeps your likeness recognisable, then reimagines you in your chosen style with your chosen power. Clear, front-facing photos in good light give the best results. Group photos work too: you choose which faces to include.
Is it an existing superhero, or an original character?
Always an original character. Hero Merch never reproduces existing, branded or trademarked superheroes. The AI invents a unique hero around your face, and every design is checked before you can order it.
What photo works best?
A sharp, well-lit photo with the face clearly visible and looking roughly towards the camera. Avoid sunglasses, heavy filters and tiny faces in a big scene. An ordinary phone photo is perfect.
Can I make a superhero from a photo of my child?
Yes, and it's one of our most popular gifts. Accounts must be held by an adult, and by uploading a child's photo you confirm you're their parent or guardian, or have their permission. Kids' organic t-shirts start at age 3–4, and youth t-shirts and sweatshirts run XS–XL. Photos are used only to create the artwork.
How long does UK delivery take?
Every item is printed to order at a UK print facility and typically arrives within 3–7 working days of ordering, with no customs delays. UK delivery is £3.99, and free on orders over £35, which covers every adult hoodie and sweatshirt. Your confirmation email includes an estimated delivery date, and you'll get a tracking email as soon as it ships.
Will it arrive in time for a birthday or Christmas?
Allow 7 working days to be safe, and a little longer in the run-up to Christmas. Your order confirmation shows an estimated delivery date for your address, and you can follow progress under My Orders.
What if I don't like a design?
Generate another. You get 5 free designs a day, and more when you refer friends, so try a different style, power or photo until you love the result. Nothing is printed until you place an order.
Which garments and sizes can I choose?
T-shirts (classic, premium and long-sleeve) in adult sizes from S up to 5XL, kids' organic t-shirts from age 3–4 to 12–13, youth t-shirts and sweatshirts in XS–XL, adult sweatshirts in S–2XL, and adult pullover and zip hoodies in S–3XL. Everything comes in black or white, and the exact sizes in stock are shown when you order.
How much does a custom superhero t-shirt cost?
Youth t-shirts are £19.99, kids' organic t-shirts £22.99, adult classic t-shirts £24.99, and premium or long-sleeve adult tees £29.99. Sweatshirts are £29.99 for youth and £34.99 for adults; hoodies are £39.99, or £44.99 for the zip hoodie. UK delivery is £3.99 and free over £35. The full price is shown before you pay, with no surprises at checkout.
Is my photo private and secure?
Your photo is used only to create your artwork and isn't kept in any gallery; the artwork itself stays in your account until you delete it. Only a watermarked preview is ever visible outside your account, and the print-quality file stays private. Payment is handled by Stripe, so we never see your card details. Full details are in our privacy policy.
What if it arrives damaged or the print is wrong?
The Hero Guarantee covers you. If your order arrives damaged, misprinted, or doesn't match the preview you approved, email us within 30 days with a photo and your order number and we'll reprint it free or refund you in full. You don't need to send anything back.
Do you ship outside the UK?
Not yet. We print and deliver within the United Kingdom only, which keeps delivery quick and reliable. We hope to reach more countries in future.
